Review

This is a book that will be on my bedside table for years to come. I jumped at the opportunity to review this book, because it came at a time where I would have kissed the ground for 5 good stress tips. 365... sign me up!

But too often I pick up a book like this hoping for some real insight, only to be left with a lot of talk and no real help. Thankfully, that was not the case with this book.

For several days, I would just open up to a random page and read an entry. Every one said something that spoke to me. There's truly something for everyone in this book. A sampling of sections: peer pressure, time management, holiday stress, family and stress, dealing with abuse, overcoming heartache, and mental health challenges.

But the book didn't just talk about stress, it gave real world tools for dealing with it. Some of my favorites: write a "mock" letter, positive self-talk, visualize success. And that's just the tip of the iceberg.

As much as I'd love to highlight sections of the book, every reader would have a different section that would mean the most to them. Overall, what I found most helpful was the down-to-Earth way the authors spoke about stress, its effects, and the possible solutions. They used real world examples and constantly reinforced the individual's responsibility for making it better.

In addition to applicable bible verses, the authors use quotes from famous thinkers, authors, celebrities, etc. as well as stories about how other people dealt with challenges (e.g., Kurt Warner and J.K. Rowling). Each page is succinct and offers a detailed description of the problem and possible solutions.

When I was reading, I felt like someone was talking to me about my problems. That's the best endorsement I can give. If you are someone who suffers with stress, please consider buying this book. All you have to lose is some stress.
