About Arrow of the Mist

But after her elder kinsman is attacked and poisoned, she and her cousin, Wynn, are forced to finish the quest on their own.

Lia relies on her powerful herbal wisdom and the memorized pages of her late grandmother’s Grimoire for guidance through a land of soul-hungry shades, trickster creatures, and uncovered truths about the origin of Brume and her family’s unexpected ties to it. The deeper they trek into the land, the stronger Lia’s untapped gift as a tree mage unfold s. When she discovers the enchanted root’s maker, it forces her to question everything about who she is and what is her destiny. Review

With her dad dying, Lia embarks on a journey with her grandfather through enchanted lands armed with a guide left behind by her grandmother. Soon into the journey, Lia begins to decipher her grandmother's words and realizes the power within her.

Still, the road is dangerous and many are dependent on her successfully completing her mission. Nothing about the quest is simple. Can she survive long enough to help those she loves?

I loved this book! First, Mercer possesses a beautiful command of the language. There were parts I re-read for the pure beauty of words and imagery. She created a land so vivid that I felt like I was walking with Lia on her journey.

And Lia... what a great character. She's determined to help her family and quick to put pieces of the puzzle together. Most of all, her heart guides her. Where others would falter, she thrives. So much of the story reminds us the importance of connecting to nature and the power we can find there.

In addition, there's danger, intrigue, magnificent creatures, and twists and turns. What more could you want?

I highly recommend Arrow of the Mist for readers who enjoy a beautifully-written adventure. I can't wait wait to read book two, Arms of Anu.
