About The Wanderer's Children

  • Print Length: 414 pages
  • Publisher: Collins-Young Publishing LLC (December 16, 2014)

  • “O’Connor tackles important world building, while also kicking off the story with a bang.”  - Publisher’s Weekly (Trinity Stones)

A thrilling follow-up to debut novel, Trinity StonesThe Wanderer’s Children continues the story taking us deeper into the depth of destiny and the impact of our free will on the forces that sway our fate, and the most powerful force of all—love.

The Wanderer’s mission three decades ago: secretly sire children to hide his bloodline, and protect them until their destinies can unite in the final battle between good and evil. That time has come…

Cara Collins, the First of the Holy Twelve, longs for one last peaceful weekend with her bridesmaids as she plans her wedding to Simon Young, her former Trinity Guardian, before duty calls with the Angelorum to gather the Twelve and prepare them for battle. Life, as she knew it, has changed; weird is Cara’s new normal. Her newly acquired Nephilim DNA is wreaking havoc on her and those closest to her as her body transforms into Amazonian proportions and an overabundance of pheromones threatens to land her in hot water with Simon—not to mention a sudden suspicious outbreak of “insta-love” among her friends.

Michael Swift, Cara’s Trinity Messenger, has spent months running from his attraction to Cara’s brazen best friend Sienna, the only woman who has ever skirted his considerable defenses. But if he wants a future with her, he must confront his tormented past head on, or risk losing her and destroying the future of the Angelorum.

As dark forces and outside threats gather, Cara has more to worry about than fitting into her wedding dress and playing Cupid to her friends. A second encounter with rocker Brett King shows Cara once again that there are no coincidences. One of the Wanderer’s children, Brett and his secret siblings are the key to gathering the rest of the Twelve.

When the newly forming team finally comes together, an unexpected revelation shakes them to their core. They must all look deeper into their souls as new secrets come to light to discover what’s really at stake in the final battle between good and evil…if betrayal and Lucifer don’t rip them apart first.

    Review

Wow! This book has so much going on. The story opens with Brett's birth and his mom talking to his father; a man who is not her husband. After showcasing Brett for a bit, Cara and many familiar faces from the first book, Trinity Stones, come into play. After all, they are waiting for their face off with Lucifer.

Now, they know they must gather the rest of the twelve. Since those with higher powers are determined that the group find out things in due time, Cara must follow her instincts and discover who will be on their side.

As truths are revealed, they find more allies, but not without emotional consequences and danger. Plus, several characters are high on love--not always a good thing when evil abounds.

L.G. O'Connor is amazing at world- and character-building. Although there are a lot of characters, and I had to occasionally check the Character List in the End Notes, they are  intricately interwoven--not that it's always clear how they are connected when they are initially introduced.

This book focuses even more on the character's emotions and struggles than the first one, but it's just as fast-moving, intricate, and thrilling. My hurt was either pounding from the exhilarating storyline or aching from what the characters were going through. No small feat.

Oh, and did I mention the romance is hot, hot, hot? No erotica here, but it's adult and it's steamy. I can't wait for the next book to see how the relationships play out and discover more of the twelve. This installment only made me more invested, and I can't wait for the final battle. But, I'll admit... I don't want it to come too quickly, because I'd miss these characters.

If you are looking for depth, heat, and excitement, look no further and take a chance on this series.

    Trinity Stones by L.G. O'Connor (4.5 stars)

    About Trinity Stones

    Series: The Angelorum Twelve Chronicles
    Paperback: 366 pages
Publisher: She Writes Press (April 22, 2014)

A thrilling debut novel that explores the impact of free will on the forces that sway our fate, and the most powerful force of all—love.

The struggle between good and evil is eternal, but modern science offers an opportunity to upset the balance. Set in a refreshingly current environment, Trinity Stones: The Angelorum Twelve Chronicles (She Writes Press / $18.95 / April 2014), by L.G. O’Connor, is the thrilling first story in this series about humans and angels brought together to fight a final battle against the Dark Ones.

New York investment banker, Cara Collins, has little to smile about on her 27th birthday. Her boss is a misogynistic pig and the love of her life is married to someone else. Top that off with a creepy man in the subway and then a homeless woman on the street grabbing her and asking to be healed, and Cara’s panic disorder rears it’s ugly head.  Cara wonders if things could get any worse until a mysterious letter arrives announcing she’s inherited $50 million–which must remain secret or those close to her could die. As Cara unravels the truth surrounding her inheritance, she makes a startling discovery: angels walk among the living, and they’re getting ready to engage in a battle that will determine the future of the human race. In the midst of these revelations, she meets the mysterious and sophisticated Simon who stirs her sleeping heart and offers her another chance at romance. But when the love of her life and his daughter are kidnapped by dark forces, Cara must choose: accept her place in a 2,000-year-old prophecy foretold in the Trinity Stones as the First of the Twelve who will lead the final battle between good and evil . . . or risk losing everything she holds dear.

Captivating and thrillingly romantic, Trinity Stones captures the eternal struggle of good and evil and the occasional need to bend the rules for the most important force of all: love.

    Review

Cara is celebrating her twenty-seventh birthday, and it's turning out to be quite the day because of a letter she receives from her long-dead grandmother. Thanks to several new people who enter her life suddenly, and one who has always been there, she discovers the truth about who she is and what she'll need to face.

There's a battle brewing, and Cara will be at the center of it. Fortunately, there are those who will fight with her--angels and their chosen allies. Along the way, she finds love; but this love is not only forbidden, it's also a dangerous distraction.

Trinity Stones is a thrill ride from start to finish. In addition to a fast-paced story and intriguing plot twists, it's full of memorable characters and fascinating creatures. Every word adds to the complexity and richness of the story. If you blink, you've missed an important detail. When I reached the last page, I felt breathless but also excited to read the next in the series.

Plus, I loved that it was adult without pushing into erotica (although I wouldn't recommend for teens based on language and situations). There was a maturity to the emotions and storyline I appreciated.

If you are looking for an exciting read, but one that also has romance and captivating characters, this is a great option.
