Sisters in Bloom by Melissa Foster (4.5 stars)

About Sisters in Bloom (Love in Bloom: Snow Sisters #2)
(from GoodReads)

Kaylie Snow has always been the fun, flirty, pretty sister. Now, her burgeoning baby bump, hormone infused emotions, and faltering singing career are sending her into an unexpected identity crisis. Watching her older sister Danica glide through a major career change and a new relationship with the grace of a ballerina, Kaylie’s insecurities rise to the forefront—and her relationship, with fiancé Chaz Crew, is caught in the crossfire.

Chaz Crew has everything he’s ever wanted: a lovely fiancé, a baby on the way, and soon, the film festival he owns will host its biggest event ever. When he’s called away to woo the festival’s largest sponsor—and the lover he’s never admitted to having—secrets from his past turn his new life upside down.

With her baby shower around the corner, and her fiancé’s big event looming, the pressure is on for Kaylie to pull herself together—and for Chaz to right his wrongs. In a few short weeks, the couple who had it all figured out will learn things about life and love that may change their minds—and their hearts.

SISTERS IN BLOOM is a testament to the bond of sisters, the strength of women, and the pains and delights that accompany motherhood. A book for every mother, sister, and daughter, SISTERS IN BLOOM will resonate with readers who love to explore family dramas.

Review

Kaylie Snow is a firecracker, full of spunk and boundless energy. Oh, and she's the kind of beautiful that guys melt into. Her more straight-laced sister, Danica, has always been the more stable person--someone Kaylie has leaned on in the past.

Nobody is more surprised by pregnancy or finding someone she wants to settle down with more than Kaylie herself. But she's weeks away from giving birth, and everything seems to be falling apart. Her singing gigs are drying up and her sexy boyfriend, Chaz, is keeping things from her. Can Kaylie accept the new path her life is taking? Can they both figure out how to communicate, even when it's hard? And can they do it all before the baby comes?

It's hard not to like Kaylie. She's beautiful, sassy, and fun. But what I found most endearing... she's searching and asking herself hard questions. She's scared and trying to figure it all out. Chaz is trying to navigate his fears and hers. But both try to put love before fear and insecurity.

Plus, Melissa Foster has created a town full of interesting characters begging for their own stories. Everybody has what we all have: fears, insecurities, strengths, weaknesses. And they are all searching for a love that will bring out the best in them.

I have read several of Melissa Foster's books, and I've loved them all. She's a cross-genre success because she crafts amazing characters who speak to something in all of us. I highly recommend Sisters in Bloom and the first in the series, and Danica's story, Sisters in Love (review here).

♥♥ Oh, and did I mention that both these titles, Sisters in Bloom and Sisters in Love, are $0.99 until 10/13/13. ♥♥
